Below are organizations—in both California and Wisconsin—that could fit your role within your activist work!

National Organizations

  • The Trevor Project

    The Trevor Project is a welcoming organization that has been supporting LGBTQ youth since 1998. With a strong commitment to suicide prevention, they provide a safe space for young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning. Their volunteers and toll-free number connects individuals with trained counselors who offer confidential assistance, ensuring that everyone has someone to talk to in times of need. Emerging Caretakers,Healers, and Frontline Responders can volunteer with Trevor at any time.

  • GLSEN

    GLSEN believes that every student has the right to a safe, supportive, and LGBTQ-inclusive K-12 education. They are a national network of educators, students, and local GLSEN Chapters working to make this right a reality.

    Their research and experience has shown that there are four major ways that schools can cultivate a safe and supportive environment for all of their students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. 

California Initiatives

  • California Center for Equality and Justice

    CCEJ is bringing social change work to classrooms, organizations, and the great outdoors! Focussed on programs like Building Bridges camp, Healing Harms, and Conscious Classrooms, the organization brings people of a Social Change Ecosystem roles together to address oppression and create learning spaces free from injustice.

  • Black Intergenerational Zeal Stoop

    BIZ Stoop was founded by Desire Johnson to address American failurism and increase the quality of life of young Black people, especially to thriving past the age of 25. Now housing more than 80 projects, BIZ Stoop offers Seed and Trailblazer grants to community and cultural workers who are supporting the needs of Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color. This organization is great for all Social Change Ecosystem roles!

  • REACH LA

    REACH LA is focussed on LGBTQIA+ communities of color, and has built a safe and supportive environment that strives to educate, motivate and mobilize youth around sexual/reproductive health, culture and self-preservation. REACH has opportunities for Artists, Storytellers, Healers, and Visionaries to connect across their communities and interests.

Wisconsin Initiatives

  • Sun-Seeker MKE Collective

    Sun-Seeker MKE Collective’s mission is to  Co-conspire to build & develop the capacities of Black Trans Abolitionist organizers in Milwaukee through multi-issue praxis development, transformative relationship, and direct action all through the lens of Trans Liberation and Safety & security. 

  • GSafe

    GSAFE creates just schools for LGBTQ+ youth in Wisconsin. We are committed to youth leadership, anti-racism, and social justice and recognize we are all life-long learners and teachers. We hold ourselves accountable to the youth we serve as well as each other, our board, funders, partner organizations, and the broader community by honoring our commitments and continuously reflecting on and improving our work.

  • Forge

    Forging forward means to build strength and resilience within transgender communities. Forge takes a comprehensive approach that includes training and technical assistance for professionals working with transgender individuals, access to resources, fostering connection, and raising awareness of the barriers trans people face in accessing care. Forge is a great organization for Builders, Educators, Disrupters, and Guides.
